CANADA GOOSE DOWN
Canada Goose uses proprietary blends of premium down which have been developed through 50 years of experience. Canada Goose uses three custom blends of down, where the blend is a percentage of down versus feathers: 750 fill power Canadian Hutterite white duck down (90/10 blend), 675 fill power Canadian white goose down (80/20 blend) and 625 fill power Canadian white duck down (80.20 blend). Canada Goose does NOT use any down from live-plucking. This pleather jacket was promising, but ultimately disappointing. Although warm and making a decent showing of pretending to be leather, the cut is poorly designed for a male build, and distinctly too small for the sizing chart.

I was hoping for a leather-look costuming piece without dropping the money on substantial real leather. They got the look right, but the cut is something else. The slim cut has shoulders that are smaller than the back, making for an unflattering reverse hourglass. And the material on the back visibly strains when zipped-- I tried an "L" (42-44) for my average-to-athletic male build, and I have a number of jackets in that sizing. This fit more like a 40, meaning it was wearable but didn't look good. Going up a size would have made the shoulders fit better, but left loose material elsewhere-- so needing to go up a size wasn't the only issue, it's more a matter of a poor cut.

The zippers actually worked well, but the neck tab doesn't have a matching snap on the collar to hold it back when the jacket is open. Unless you have long hair to hold it down, that means the long tab will be swinging around when you wear the jacket open (which you'll want to, since the unbreathable pleather gets hot quickly).

I still award three stars because the look is decent, there's attention to the finish and trim, the zippers work well, and the pockets surprisingly work well. The heavy pleather was also very warm. For this price, you might be able to find low-end leather. but if you prefer man-made, this is a good jacket-- but only for those with a small build.

For the price, you aren't likely to find a better packable rain jacket than this. From the snazzy color scheme and design to the light weight, to the stowable hood and roomy pockets, this jacket punches way above its weight class. The jacket packs down easily into a pouch about the size of a softball, and can therefore be taken just about anywhere without being cumbersome. Once you've got it unpacked, you'll be able to cinch the wrists to your comfort level, and with the zipper zipped and hood up, you'll stay dry as well as toasty. That leads me to one of the jacket's only issues. Due to the water-resistant nature of the materials, the jacket doesn't breathe very well. A couple of underarm vents would have made a huge difference in the comfort level of this jacket. However, as long as you're not trying to stay dry in the tropics, it really isn't enough to be a deal breaker. No, this jacket isn't going to stop you getting wet in a hurricane, but it's great for mild to moderate rain, and at less than $40.00, it's well worth having.
